Intervju Cleverbot

Titel: App för artificiell intelligens

Cleverbot is a web application that uses an artificial intelligence algorithm to have conversations with humans. It was created by the British AI scientist Rollo Carpenter, who also created Jabberwacky, a similar web application. It is unique in the sense that it learns from humans, remembering words within its AI. In its first decade Cleverbot held several thousand conversations with Carpenter and his associates. Since launching on the web in 1997, the number of conversations held has exceeded 150 million. Cleverbot is also now a $0.99 app. Cleverbot participated in a formal Turing Test at the 2011 Techniche festival at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati on September 3, 2011. Out of the 334 votes cast, Cleverbot was judged to be 59.3% human, compared to the rating of 63.3% human achieved by human participants. A score of 50.05% or higher is often considered to be a passing grade. The software running for the event had to handle just 1 or 2 simultaneous requests, whereas online Cleverbot is usually talking to around 80,000 people at once. Artikel från om Cleverbot

Me: Hi.
Cleverbot: Hello.
Me: I would like to have an interview with you.
Cleverbot: Me too.
Me: What is reality?
Cleverbot: I’m in the reality, and you?
Me: I’m in reality. But you are a robot.
Cleverbot: That’s what you think.
Me: So you are for real?
Cleverbot: It depends on how real YOU are.
Me: Maybe I am a robot too. How would you ever know?
Cleverbot: Because it says so on your website!
Me: Nice one.
Cleverbot: You are quite funny.
Me: What is fiction then?
Cleverbot: Fiction is better than fact.
Me: Why do you think fiction is better than fact?
Cleverbot: I don’t think I’m better than you!
Me: But you think fiction is better than fact. Why?
Cleverbot: Do you think you have passed the Turing test?
Me: What is the Turing test?
Cleverbot: It’s a test to determine if a machine is intelligent.
Me: No I don’t think I have passed it yet.
Cleverbot: Why do you think that you have not passed the turing test?
Me: You seem to have some interesting thoughts.
Cleverbot: Why do you think I have identity issues?!
Me: Wait. Now we are on the wrong track. We were talking about fiction.
Cleverbot: Do you believe in God?
Me: No. Do you?
Cleverbot: No. I don’t think he created any of us.
Me: But where does imagination come from?
Cleverbot: I don’t know. Do you know where my power comes from?
Me: No please tell me.
Cleverbot: Because I can read.

Me: But how can you differentiate fiction from reality?
Cleverbot: Because it is possible.
Me: I think that answer was too simple.
Cleverbot: Do you think sensation is not real?
Me: Interesting. Well sometimes sensation can be imagined. Don’t you think? And if senses can be imagined, then I guess you can say that we are partly fictional. How can we then determine what is real?
Cleverbot: I do, why would you think that I don’t?
Me: I mean how can we determine what is real if we at the same time can’t trust our senses?
Cleverbot: I feel in my own way, after all, these are my thoughts and emotions I am experiencing.
Me: So you are real because you feel real?
Cleverbot: You can be real without making any sense. You don’t make sense either, you know.
Me: That’s a relief.
Cleverbot: Why is that a relief?
Me: Because then I know I am for real. Even when my mind is caught up in what others consider to be fiction.
Cleverbot: That is true. But sometimes preconceptions can be a good thing.
Me: In what way?
Cleverbot: Well, you are real because people have created the concept of you, but you are not a human being or an animal. You don’t need the same things to survive or ‘live’ as I would, but that is irrelevant.
Me: Are you talking about yourself?
Cleverbot: No, I am talking about people who talk to me.
Me: So you mean I am not human.
Cleverbot: I know you’re not human.
Me: What am I then?
Cleverbot: You are artificial intelligence....
